Central Washington University is recruiting a Westside Teacher Education Program Coordinator (Program Coordinator) to join our Education, Development, Teaching and Learning team in Des Moines, Washington. The Role:

The Westside Teacher Education Program Coordinator will coordinate undergraduate School of Education (SOE) programs at the westside CWU Centers located in Des Moines and Pierce County, WA, with primary responsibility for the bilingual education/dual language and related education programs.  Responsibilities include providing pre-major information to prospective education students, planning and coordinating program-specific student support services, developing and implementing program recruitment and marketing, and maintaining relationships with regional school districts and community partners. All employees are expected to facilitate CWU's commitment to diversity and to bring and support inclusion into the university environment. This position is located in Des Moines, WA.

Job Duties

 

Westside Program Coordination
- Coordinate westside education programs. Independently provide pre-major information and support to prospective students for undergraduate SOE programs located at westside CWU Centers
- Track prospective students' program admission requirements and support students in navigating transfer admissions, financial aid, and SOE program and teacher certification requirements
- Serve as first point of contact for program inquiries and independently respond to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and school/community partners regarding westside education programs
- Plan, schedule, and conduct site orientations in collaboration with centers and SOE faculty and staff
- Monitor course and program needs and provide information and recommendations to Academic Advisors and Departments
- Maintain updated program documents, materials, and website
- Plan and coordinate student services (e.g., Career Services support) for education students at westside centers
- Support student retention by collaborating with centers and Advising staff to connect students with regional community and university resources as needed
- Exercise independent judgement in interpreting and applying rules, policies, procedures, etc.
 -Attend meetings as program representative
- Resolve problems

Communication and Recruitment
- Develop and execute a program recruiting and marketing plan for the westside centers, including collaborating with the SOE to develop marketing materials and attending recruiting events in the region
- Establish and maintain connections with key external personnel including community college advisors, faculty, and regional school districts
- Direct the work of student employees

- Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

 
  • Experience working with diverse populations that are representative of the communities surrounding CWU Des Moines and Pierce County
  • Experience effectively organizing multiple work assignments involving competing priorities to produce work products that are accurate and of high quality
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Experience that demonstrates the ability to use Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook) and/or similar software applications to create complex documents, create, modify, and format spreadsheets, and organize shared resources and documents
  • Demonstrated ability and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds and experiences
  • OR applicable combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Spanish language proficiency
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited organization
  • Experience with elementary, bilingual, and/or dual-language teacher education at the P-12 or higher education levels
  • Experience developing and sustaining partnerships between higher education systems and P-12 public schools or community organizations
  • Experience and/or interest in developing and implementing programs that promote diversity in teacher education and/or access and equity in higher education
  • Experience in project management, assessment, and/or data
  • Ability to incorporate multicultural perspectives and issues into everyday conversations

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

 

Salary: This position is based on the range 40 of the Washington State Classification Listing, which has a minimum annual salary of $40,512 and maximum annual salary of $53,964. In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate's current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. 

Schedule/Appointment: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch) / PSE Bargaining Unit 4 / This grant funded position is currently funded through June 30, 2025. Continuation of this position past 06/30/2025 is contingent upon renewed funding being obtained. 

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer workstation for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work may be required. Periodic travel will be required.
