General Purpose and Scope of Position:

The Manager of Data Solutions is responsible for leading the development and maintenance of new and existing data lake ingestion and data warehouse objects in a cloud environment. This role is responsible for overseeing the Data Solutions team by setting standards for data solutions best practices and managing all functional activities of the team. This position requires a strong understanding of data movement, security & modeling, and cloud architecture. The Manager of Data Solutions will partner with technical and functional teams across the company to identify and define business requirements for solutions to their data needs. This individual leads a diverse team of data solutions professionals throughout the project life cycle, from requirements to production implementation, with emphasis on data ingestion, data architecture, development, testing, and support of data lake/warehouse in a hands-on fashion as necessary, to ensure timely deliverables.

Key Skills and Abilities Include:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a developer role with emphasis on the software development life cycle and project life cycle activities on development and maintenance projects.
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams, with a background in data platform design, development, and implementation
  • Experience interfacing with business leaders and key stakeholders to develop strategic data solutions.
  • At least 7 years of experience in DW/BI-related cloud technologies and tools. Snowflake, a plus
  • Expert in data modeling for conceptual and star schema designs
  • Thorough understanding and experience with relational databases, data warehouse schema, and source data.
  • Strong SQL skills are essential to analyze and interpret enterprise data.
  • Supportive of self-service reporting and data mining
  • Understand data governance and value of data catalogs, master data management, and data quality
  • Working knowledge of ELT/ETL and query tools, Fivetran and Coalesce desirable.
  • Methodologies, preferably Agile.
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or equivalent experience

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

  • Lead with strategic vision and passion to drive the data solutions team in identifying and defining business requirements for solutions to their data needs.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of new and existing data lake ingestion and data warehouse objects in a cloud environment.
  • Implement a center of excellence (CoE) to guide and govern the data platform in providing stakeholders the data and tools necessary to effectively drive business decisions and outcomes.
  • Oversee the data solutions team throughout project life cycle, from requirements to production implementation, with emphasis on data ingestion, data architecture, development, testing and support of data lake/warehouse in a hands-on fashion as necessary, to ensure timely deliverables.
  • Provide expertise in design, development, and implementation of the Snowflake Data Lake.
  • Lead data engineering development CI/CD via Azure DevOps and Agile methodologies.Manage the sprint plan and related day-to-day activities of the team.
  • Develop positive working relationships with business leaders, key stakeholders, and cross functional teams.
  • Understand and monitor current and emerging business and market trends and how others employ them.
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Director of Data Strategy and Governance.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $116,500 - $163,030. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, retirement plans, and other benefits.
