Role and Responsibilities:

We are seeking an Operations Area Manager for the East Gulf Coast Hyco Up-River area. The area manager has full operational and maintenance accountability for the HYCO production assets in the Baton Rouge, Plaquemine and Geismar, LA area. The incumbent must have technical and operational knowledge to lead the executing team and to serve as a focal point for senior leadership.

The East Gulf Coast Up-River area consists of the Baton Rouge SMR, Plaquemine off-gas facility, Geismar 1 SMR, Geismar 2 Bulk CO Loading facility, Geismar 3 HYCO facility and the Geismar area off-gas satellite facilities. This role reports to the Louisiana Area Manager and the HYCO Gulf Coast franchise. The HYCO Gulf Coast franchise is spread across Texas and Louisiana and consists of world-scale SMR plants, CO-Syngas production facilities, off-gas recovery plants, and the world's largest hydrogen pipeline network.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining an atmosphere of safety for all personnel and motivating personnel to remain focused on safety.
  • Maximizing asset utilization, cost minimization and continuous performance improvement.
  • Providing direct support and personal development to the front-line supervisors.
  • Tracking, encouraging, and motivating to superior levels all of the KPI's associated with safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation.
  • Serving as gatekeeper and approver for all actions derived from safety and reliability events.
  • Directing and prioritizing regional support resources as necessary.
  • Continually interfacing with the Louisiana area line manager, asset managers, and account managers to optimize services and manage priorities.
  • Developing the HyCO sub-region leadership team to further improve the sub-region's capabilities and personnel.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Experience in leading, inspiring, coaching, and recognizing a diverse team; including providing regular and honest feedback to empower team members to do their best work.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to communicate well in highly visible, and possibly confrontational, situations.
  • Experience administering environmental, health and safety (EH&S) standards and ensuring the protection of employees, contractors, the community, and the environment.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A degree in Engineering, a technical field, or equivalent subject area with 10 years of manufacturing experience in a chemical plant, industrial gas plant, petroleum refinery, or an operation of equivalent complexity.
  • Candidates must have at least 5 years of leadership experience in Operations or Plant Management.
